Eucalyptus is often grouped in with minty oils such as peppermint or spearmint. This is due to the components that make up the essential oil itself. Peppermint is special because of the menthol it contains (which is used in many products to add a cooling effect).
Eucalyptus oil naturally contains eucalyptol, which has a similar effect.
However, the aroma itself is very different. Think summer in Australia (eucalyptus trees make up most of the continents forests). Refreshing and earthy, Eucalyptus can be stimulating and good for sustaining energy.
It’s also found in many personal care and beauty products, and helps with healthy respiratory function.
